Before you start shopping for everything on that long, long list of "necessities" for your dorm room, and spend a fortune, try a few of these functional tips to personalize your space for next to nothing. Each is super cute and unique but won't break the bank!
What You'll Need:
- Shampoo Bottles
Bumper Sticker Decorated Drawers
This next one is a perfect icebreaker too! It's very simple; make clear plastic drawers more interesting by making a collage of bumper stickers and pictures of things that you love. Not only does it look great, it's the perfect way to start talking to your new roommate. When they see all of the things that you love, it'll instantly strike up a conversation! You can also use this technique on your binders or other things in your space.
What You'll Need:
- Wooden Clothes Pins
- Yarn or String
Clothes Pins are perfect for small spaces! I buy wooden clothes pins of different sizes at arts and craft stores and decorate them with gems, paint and glitter. All you need is string or magnets to attach them to the wall (I prefer string), and you have a versatile and easy option for hanging up all of your old photos of friends. I pair my clothes pins with Polaroid pictures of me and my friends for a vintage feel.
The easiest way to instantly add color or change up your space is with these window crayons. You can pick them up (they're Crayola brand) at your local drug store. They're easy to write with and take up no space at all. Best of all, the crayons are easy to change and erase but last as long as you want them to. Window crayons are the best way to decorate for the holidays on a budget, or change the look of your room at no cost at all.
