If you’re anything like me, Woody Allen’s latest venture made you fall in love with his movies all over again. Between the luscious scenery, the to-die-for costumes and the haunting music, Midnight in Paris was the perfect combination of romantic comedy and historical details. To recreate this movies aesthetic it might take a little work, but it’ll be well worth it when your friends come over to see your space!
First you’ll need a focal art piece. For this I like a copy of Van Gogh’s Starry, Starry Night. Featured on the movie poster it draws on the themes of the movie without being too literal. The best part about this poster is that it won’t set you back more than ten dollars.
Another great piece to incorporate into your room is a gramophone. While certainly more expensive than the poster, they lend a certain authenticity!
To inject some literary life into the space look for books by Gertrude Stein, Zelda Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway. Display leather editions of their works prominently on your bookshelf, then add mirrored bookends. These bookends reflect the twenties theme, but come at a much better price than antiques!
For a side table, consider a piece inspired by 20s bar carts. This Target pick is on sale and offers clean lines and is visually small to keep your space looking open.
Add a faux chandelier and you’re almost done.
Put all of these elements together with a little of your own flair and you’ll have the perfect Midnight in Paris room!
