Sorority recruitment will be one of the most exhausting, exciting and rewarding experiences of your life. As a freshman, you will go into fall rush with few friends, and by Bid Day, you will have over a hundred new sisters to make your life at college absolutely incredible! But before Bid Day, you and thousands of other girls will go through formal sorority recruitment to find your perfect sorority. Besides being yourself and letting the sisters see your amazing personality, dressing your best is a key factor to feeling and appearing confident. Clueless or confused on what to wear for recruitment to stand out from the thousands of other potential new members? Here are some outfit tips to help you have a remarkable rush experience!

For the first two open house rounds of recruitment, you will be wearing sundresses! Dresses make life a little easier because the summer heat still has not disappeared (especially in the South). My first recommendation is definitely Lilly Pulitzer! Although these dresses can be a little pricier, they are definitely an amazing investment, and a Lilly girl is always looking fabulous. If you are shopping on a tighter budget, check out Francesca’s Collection and H&M for some really great dresses at very affordable prices. I’ll now introduce you to one of my guilty pleasure: Jack Rogers! I have so many pairs of these sandals in so many colors; they are comfortable, can be dressed up or down and always are my go-to shoe for anything. Jack Rogers sandals will help you survive standing for hours on end during recruitment while your feet still look stylin’!

While you are expected to wear dresses for the first two rounds, the following philanthropy and skit rounds are much more intimate and relaxed with you and the sisters. For these rounds, you will most likely be sitting on the floor, so wearing dresses and skirts is more of an obstacle. If you do not mind the challenge, go for it and wear a sundress or a cute skirt and top! But if you do not want to worry about making sure your legs stay crossed for each round, then definitely wear shorts and a pretty top.

For shorts, I recommend J. Crew’s Chino shorts! These shorts are flattering on every body type, very reasonable for great quality and come in so many colors! To go with the shorts, you can get trendy, cheap tops at Forever 21 that will make your outfit stand out from the others.

Finally, for preference night, you will want to dress in cocktail attire with heels or wedges. At most colleges, the sisters will either wear black or white on preference night, so you will want to completely avoid those colors just to be safe! If you can splurge on your preference night dress, check out Bloomingdale’s Aqua Line.  Bloomingdales offers a great variety of dresses for all body types, so you will definitely find a dress there! Also, for somewhat more reasonable prices,  Nordstrom’s BP line offers very flattering, form fitting dresses that can help you look your best and stand out on preference night.  For the perfect pair of heels or wedges to complete your outfit, try Steve Madden or Steven by Steve Madden for cheaper prices, but still great style and quality. Also, be sure to check out Target’s improving and growing shoe department for the latest trends at great prices.

After you decide which sorority you fit into best on preference night, Bid Day will be hours away and you will starting making amazing memories with your new sisters!
